The thermocouple senses the temperature inside a kiln. The thermocouple is the small rod that extends inside the firing chamber. Made of two dissimilar metals, the thermocouple generates a small voltage at the tip when exposed to heat. Watch the video and you will see that the thermocouple is fairly easy to replace. Open the switch box or control panel, and follow the instructions shown in the video. Be sure all connections are tight. A loose thermocouple or wire connection will cause erratic temperature readings.
