M034 How to Test the Voltage at the Relay (6 min 10 sec)

The kiln’s digital controller turns on the heating elements by sending a signal to one or more relays. In this video, you will learn to test a relay with a voltmeter and to determine whether to replace the relay. When testing the voltage from the controller to the relay(s), the voltmeter should be in the DC mode. It should be in the AC mode when testing the voltage from the power source to the relay. Most of the small mechanical relays are mounted in the control panel with two screws. To save time in replacing a relay, remove only one screw and loosen the other. Then slide out the relay from the loosened screw.
