M024 How to Repair a Bulging Element (3 min 3 sec)
Learn to repair a bulging sidewall heating element. This information applies to most brands of electric kilns. Tools needed: needle-nose pliers, snap-ring pliers, propane torch, and a common butter knife. Disconnect the power before starting the project, and observe caution around a propane torch. Heating elements become brittle after they have been fired, so an element should be heated before you stretch or move it back into an element groove. The video was produced at the Paragon kiln factory in Mesquite, Texas USA.
