John Myers says, "It is very important to Jan and me to get consistent results from our kilns, because this is the way we make our living." “Jan and I have been married and working together for 33 years,” said John Myers. “About 28 years ago, we gave up our big gas kiln and started learning about electric kilns. We were typical potters making thrown and high fired functional work. “Ten or fifteen years ago we started making slab work with stamped designs, spending a lot of time hand painting decorative and functional plates, which sold very well. At that time we were firing about four glaze loads a week in our old 24” X 27” kilns. We were wearing out elements firing cone 6 as fast as we could. We tried several brands of kilns. “About five years ago we were firing a 28” other brand kiln, and after numerous repairs gave up on it. David Snyder, at All fired Up, suggested we look at the new Paragon 28” with Sentry 2.0 controller. It has been a very good kiln for us. David has replaced the elements two or three times and nothing else. The LiteLid lid-lift really helps Jan (me too) open the kiln. “We have learned that good equipment is worth a little more money and saves time and expenses later.
