Paragon TnF-K-6A
Ceramists who fire these kilns enjoy the thrill of glaze depth and texture. During slow cooling, the microcrystalline and color transformation of the ware is given sufficient time for full development. The result is vastly improved ware that some potters think is possible only in gas reduction firing.
You will be amazed at the convenience of digital firing. The reliable solid-state Sentry controller continually monitors the firing so you can spend your time productively without closely watching the kiln. (Please remember, however, to check the kiln during firing and to monitor it near the expected shutoff time.) The sealed touch pad keeps out dust and is easy to wipe clean.
The controller has powerful features that you will enjoy using. Yet we have also worked hard to make the controller user-friendly.
Do you ever wonder how much electricity your kiln uses? The digital controller can figure this for you with the press of a button. Find out how little a kiln actually costs to fire. Learn to conserve energy by experimenting with firing speed, load density, etc.
Two inches of high temperature block insulation line all four sides, the lid, and bottom behind the firebrick of each model. Combined with the 2 ½" thick firebrick, total insulation thickness is 4 ½".
The lid fits inside a recess around the top of the kiln. For extra strength, the sidewall firebricks are cemented together in rows. Steel supports reinforce the steel base. Steel covers the top of the lid.

The Furniture Kit
The furniture kit consists of carefully selected fireclay shelves and posts for this particular model. When estimating the price of the kiln, include the cost of furniture. The furniture allows you to stack multiple layers of ware. Without it, you could fire only the ware that would fit on the kiln bottom.

Have something good to say about the TNFK6B, Discontinued? Tell Us |
"This was the third, of my four Paragon kiln purchases. I bought it solely to fire crystalline glazes but have since used it for other technical glazes like temmoku, iron crystal development, and strontium crystals. Crystalline glazes require 2 hour, and some go as long as 8 hour extended hold ramps for crystal development. Many technical glazes require extended holds between 1900-2000F.
The wall design of this kiln, along with its wattage output is designed to build and hold heat for extended periods, without eating a hole in your pocket book. If you want to fast cool from peak to the hold temp, simply pull the bunges. This model by far is one of the most economical on the market to fire complex firing schedules.
I ordered mine with a type S thermocouple, APM elements, and a stainless steel jacket. Stainless is the easiest to maintain and resists corrosion. As far as the elements, I will let you know how long they last as soon as I replace the original set; same for the thermocouple. " - Tom Anderson, Tile Art Studios, Bethalto, IL.
