Caldera-E Enameling CollarThe Caldera-E collar stacks onto the modular Caldera, adding 6 3/4” of height to the kiln. The Caldera-E collar has a 7 ½” x 4” copper enameling door on the side. Now you can explore the exciting art of copper enameling without having to buy a front-loading enameling kiln. The door is large enough for small enameling pieces such as pendants. The kiln ships with a rare earth magnet to hold the enameling door open, and a stainless steel bead mandrel holder. The mandrel holder attaches to the front of the kiln. 1500° F maximum temperatureThe Caldera-E collar has no heating elements. For this reason, the Caldera-E collar will slow down the firing rate of the Caldera and reduce the maximum temperature to 1500°F (815°C). The collar is made of 2 ½” thick hand-selected insulating refractory firebricks. The firebricks, wrapped in heavy-gauge stainless steel, store heat for minimal heat loss after opening the door to remove a copper piece. Rugged constructionTo strengthen the firing chamber, the firebrick corners are fitted together with L-shaped notches. This type of joint lasts longer than the butted joint and the "picture frame" mitered joint found on competitive brands. Rugged construction makes this kiln a real workhorse. For each maintenance, the stainless steel case includes case tighteners. The quality Caldera-E is proudly made in the U.S.A. Imagine the beautiful copper enameling you could make in this kiln. The Caldera-E bead collar will give you a haven of creative enjoyment that you will especially appreciate when life gets hectic. The Caldera-E can ship by UPS/FedEx. Enjoy lower shipping cost and faster service. Specially designed cartons and foam padding assure that the kiln will arrive safely to your door. Warning for the Caldera kiln equipped with a lid safety switch and collarThe Caldera kiln was intended to be a stackable kiln with a separate lid and bottom. However, the lid must be hinged to the Caldera body when a lid safety switch is installed. To stabilize a Caldera kiln that has a hinged lid, we attach the kiln body and kiln bottom together with two latches. If an unlatched collar (enameling, bead, or extension) is mounted between the Caldera body and the kiln bottom, care must be taken when opening the hinged lid. Do not open the lid past 90 degrees (where the lid is straight up) unless the lid leans against a heat-proof support behind the kiln. Made in the USAThe Caldera-E is proudly made in Mesquite, Texas by skilled craftspeople. We are open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Central Standard Time Monday through Thursday. Call us—we would enjoy hearing from you. Our customer service representatives will be glad to help you after the sale, even long after the kiln is out of warranty, and at no charge. |
