Paragon Old-Style GL-24AD Digital Glass Fusing KilnThis model has been replaced by the Professional Series GL-24AD. Though the earlier model is no longer in production, you can still access the wiring diagram, replacement parts, and instruction manuals by scrolling down to the bottom of this page. The GL-24A digital kiln is 15” high inside with room to bend glass for curved windows or cabinet doors and to repair lamp shades. Make huge glass-fused platters. Crack the door to drag a rod across the softened glass or to emboss designs in the surface. Paragon’s GL-series are made for years of rigorous firing, as artists all over America can attest. The insulating firebrick, wrapped in heavy-guage steel, soak up heat for slow, even cooling. The GL-series lid elements in the 240 volt version of the GL-24AD use a new element groove that eliminates element pins. The element coils are wider than the groove opening, so the elements stay in place without pins. The spring-pressure latch and a ½" recess around the edge of the firebrick door seal the door tight. The door remains rock-steady on a heavy hinge shaft. Four hand lifts aid moving. The base is open in the back and slotted to dissipate heat. Watch the red-hot glass through two tapered peepholes, drilled one above the other in the wall opposite the switch box. Peephole plugs are included. You will be amazed at the convenience of digital firing. The reliable solid-state Sentry controller continually monitors the firing so you can spend your time productively without closely watching the kiln. (Please remember, however, to check the kiln during firing and to monitor it near the expected shutoff time.) The sealed touch pad keeps out dust and is easy to wipe clean. The controller has powerful features that you will enjoy using. Yet we have also worked hard to make the controller user-friendly. Do you ever wonder how much electricity your kiln uses? The digital controller can figure this for you with the press of a button. Find out how little a kiln actually costs to fire. Learn to conserve energy by experimenting with firing speed, load density, etc. Optional Ceramic Fiber Top The standard GL-series kiln comes with an insulating firebrick top, grooved for heating elements. The upgrade option is a ceramic fiber top with embedded heating elements. The new top helps keep the glass clean during firing. (It is available only for the GL-24 size kilns.) Optional Kiln Stand The heavy-duty GL-series stand raises your GL-18, GL-22 or GL-24 kiln to a convenient working height. Begin operating your new kiln without having to find a table strong enough to support over 300 pounds. The table is 147 pounds of rock solid construction. ST-8: without casters—30 ¼” square x 28 ¼” high, 147 lb. ST-8-1: with 2" steel casters—30 ¼" square x 30 ¾” high, 150 lb. Furniture Kit for GL-24 Series The glass must always be fired on a kiln shelf rather than directly on the kiln’s firebrick bottom. 1 - C-30 - 22” Square Shelf 4 - 1” wide Square Posts, ½” long 1 lb.
