A new Paragon ad in Metal Clay Artist magazine features jewelry artist Ann Davis. The ad includes the photo of Ann with her Paragon SC-3, and begins with this message:
“If I were stranded on a desert isle, I would take my Keurig coffemaker, my Paragon kiln, a suitcase full of supplies, and a really long extension cord! “I love Paragon, have been using their kilns since the late 60s. I used them first for pottery and casting, then glass, and now PMC. My current heartthrob is the SC-3, my precious. It’ll do anything, probably stand on its head for me. I have used it for wax burnout, beadmaking, metal clay, enameling, heat coloring copper—golly, just about everything. It’s a workhorse! Oh, and I talk to it, tell it we are ready to start the day . . . and it glows and makes that little turning on and off sound to keep me company.”
Volume 4, Issue 4 of Metal Clay Artist magazine, which shows the new ad on page 55, came out just in time for a Joy Funnell class that Ann attended. “Everybody howled!” said Ann. “They loved the ad. The magazine was passed around during class and caused quite a disruption. The class pieces were all fired in Paragons. The weekend was a triumph. Joy is one of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure to work with.”
“Students passed around the magazine and laughed hysterically. Many of the gals said they feel the same about their kilns and had names for them. Maybe we’ve tapped an unknown emotion . . . a gal and her kiln . . . a sacred relationship, like a guy and his truck.
“So many gals started talking about their Paragon SC's and product loyalty. Your customer service, which I keep hearing about and have experienced first hand, is excellent. You guys rule!
“It’s always nice when a ‘straight-forward company,’ responsible to the max and then some, can be silly,” said Ann. “It shows humility, and I believe you guys have a lot of it. Paragon--just little old country kiln makers.”
