The Paragon Darby Dipper crucible kiln
11/22/2011
The Darby Dipper crucible furnace is designed for glass blowers who need a small, 120 volt kiln for making custom glass colors, blown vessels, and neon tubing. The 7 1/2” square x 9” deep Darby Dipper can also be ordered in 240 volts and for electrical systems overseas.
The Darby Dipper is well insulated for the long firings typical of crucible work. The kiln is made from 3” insulating firebricks with extra ceramic fiber insulation behind the firebrick walls.
The kiln is equipped with a Sentry Xpress digital temperature controller and a deluxe S-Type platinum thermocouple. The digital controller mounts on the wall and is connected to the kiln with 6’ cables.
Access to the crucible is gained through a 6” hole in the kiln top. The kiln includes a firebrick cover with handle to place over the 6” hole. Sidewall heating elements are protected in dropped, recessed firebrick grooves. The stainless steel case can be adjusted with case tighteners.
The crucible cover is made of firebricks and includes a wooden handle.
