Kiln Pointers

Electricians

Question:

Do you have any pointers on finding a good electrician familiar with kilns?

Answer:

Several months ago I was helping a customer fix a kiln over the phone. She was upset because she had worked on it for hours out in the cold. Her fingers were numb, and it was dark outside.

Then she had an electrician come over. He had never seen a kiln before in his life, yet he fixed it in minutes, because he knew how to read a wiring diagram and understood circuits. It was a pleasure to deal with him.

I told him he had done a good job fixing the kiln, and he said he was familiar with machinery, so the kiln was easy to work on. My suggestion about electricians is that if you can't find a kiln repairman, look for an electrician who has had experience working on machinery.
